Sometimes they get along and THAT makes celebrating national siblings day oh so worth it. Seriously though, Ellie has been a trooper during this transition time with little k. It’s often too easy to focus on the “sick” child and allow the other to figure it out on their own. I know we’ve tried to be intentional with both, but have at times not done the best. I applaud her for taking most days with grace, because we all sure do need it. Can’t wait for the day she buries him in the sand again. Till then this image lives as my screensaver 🖤

Little update for 🙏🏼... his eyes came back with no permanent damage. The pain should subside in about a week and if not we will reevaluate. He has started to develop sore spots on his throat that are painful due to the SJS. He has bouts of the burning feeling and his skin welts up. We can keep it somewhat under control with Benadryl and Motrin. He is in good spirits and bummed he can’t return to school for a bit. He can’t get sick due to not having options for medicine currently until testing can be done and his immune system is shot so we are highly susceptible. Again we are so grateful for how mild this SJS case is, but still hard to see my baby in any amount of pain. 🖤

Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. We are home and have follow up tests today. Little Kellen went into anaphylaxis over an antibiotic for the salmonella he has been struggling with since New Years. That reaction led to a more rare condition, Stevens-Johnson syndrome. We are beyond grateful for the early diagnosis from the medical staff and even more thankful that it was a mild case as it can be quite a horrendous condition. He did not progress beyond a severe sunburn level, but spotting was left on his eyes which we are having looked at today by a specialist. Would love continued prayers as we are not 100% out of the woods yet. Again I can not thank you enough to all of you that reached out. ❤️

This girl sat down and told me all about walking out of school today for the lost students and to be part of change. She said she prayed for those that are hurting. She also asked if it could happen to their school. As much as I want to say no, I know I can’t make a promise like that. I simply do not know what others will or won’t do. Her having to ask this question breaks me, but also her asking me this question gives me hope that the younger generations are listening and want a better world too. {I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. - Jeremiah 29:11 the message}

Most of my journey has been trying to find the place where I am comfortable. Comfortable in my own own skin. Comfortable in my surroundings. I finally reached that point and was content for many years. Don’t get me wrong I became content, but it was not always easy. Now as she grows I am learning I no longer want to be comfortable. I want to show her at 37 it is okay grow and change and mold into something new. To become uncomfortable in order to follow the Lords leading. I want to show bravery, I want to not be afraid to show real tears, I want to love my changing body, I want to embrace the ebbs and flows in life and rejoice in the chaos. I want to do this for her. To show her that a woman is forever changing and forever growing. Isn’t that part of the beauty of being a woman? We were gifted with a strength that surpasses understanding in order to make this world a better place 🖤

Can’t believe it has taken two years to decide to make this space our work/homework area. Truly makes the world of difference on so many levels to have a designated space for function. {sources mostly tagged}

The sweetest gift from @highlandscollege. The bottom image was from before kellen and I were married, prob around this day 14 years ago. The bottom image is of @layneschranz where I happened to meet K at his and @rachelschranz home. On the left is @pastorchrishodges who hired k at the start of @churchofthehighlands which in turn kept him in Alabama so he could one day marry me. Love that they all will forever be part of my life story ❤️

Rough start to the New Year for our little fam, but excited for every new day and the hope that comes with it. “He has made everything beautiful in its time - ecc 3:11” 🖤

At the beach my sweet boy got sick. We came home Tuesday and after an extremely rough day/night we headed to the ER. Yesterday was not any better but today he is turning the corner 🙌🏼 Just heard from the hospital and we found out he has salmonella poisoning. He still needs some healing so prayers are more than welcome and we thank those who have been praying already! We also heard from his class that there is a rumor about him being bitten by 🦈 so that’s kind of cool.

2018 we are ready to see what the Lord has in store for our family and yours 🖤

But those that hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint - Isaiah 40:32. looking forward to seeing my babies soar next year!

Some days are just too perfect for words.

This sweet pup gave us quite the scare this week. Went from barely able to walk to hopping up on the furniture over night, which he knows is not allowed. I believe he may officially be on the mend! I suppose I will let him be. It is Christmas after all ☺️
